About Me
My name is Andrew Hutchings (known as A-Wing or LinuxJedi many places online), I am married with 2 young children and live in Northamptonshire.
I have previously spent time programming 8051 based ICs and PIC controllers for environmental monitoring systems. I have also spent several years as a computer engineer for various companies, and I worked for an ISP / hosting company designing, developing and supporting (both technical and customer support) around 50 Linux servers in Manchester's IFL buildings.
Up until spring 2007 I worked from home as a freelance Perl / PHP / C programmer for various web and server applications (all my clients used Linux servers). I also remote administered servers for several clients and gave advice on setups and security issues.
I now work as technical architect and senior developer for the interactive division of Dennis Publishing in Fitzrovia, London (yes its a commute, but the job is worth it). This basically means that I configure and operate the Linux based server architecture, am responsible for PHP code for the site and maintain and optimise the MySQL setup and databases.
From 2003 to 2007 I was the administrator of the North Wales Linux Users Group (NWLUG).
I am now a qualified Zend Certified Engineer and a Certified MySQL DBA.
